Overnight Storms Keeping SAWS Crews Busy

Two significant sewer spills occurred subsequent to yesterday’s storms, exceeding the 100,000 gallon trigger for public notice.

The first incident occurred in the eastern portion of the city in the 700 block of Holbrook Road,. Four to five manholes were surcharging due to infiltration of storm water. Due to dilution by stormwater, no adverse impacts have been observed. SAWS crews will continue to monitor the areas.

The second spill was at SAWS Dos Rios Water Recycling Plant and occurred when a flow equalization basin overfilled due to exceptionally high storm flows into the facility. See TCEQ notices for more details.
