Keeping Your Lawn Green and Your Bill Low

Watching your lawn and plants wilt in the summer heat? You don’t have to turn on the sprinkler system.

imageYou can keep your landscape happy while reducing the impact on your water bill by taking it all into your own hands – with a water wand or handheld nozzle. And you can water any day, any time with a handheld hose.

Our clay soils generally don’t allow water to soak in rapidly so apply smaller amounts of water gradually. Here are some tips to make the best impact:

  • Start in one section of your landscape and progress slowly in one direction.
  • Keep moving – you don’t want puddles.
  • Repeat until you have covered the whole landscape.

Your best tool for watering is a handheld nozzle or water wand that can be shut off from its handle. The nozzle should spread water in many uniform beads to mimic natural rainfall.

Make the most of hand watering. It’s an enjoyable, relaxing way to spend time in your yard. And your water bill will be lower for it.
