SAWS Honors Military Members at 10th Annual Veterans Day Breakfast

Mess-hall-style breakfast accompanies ceremony and nspirational talk by retired Army Major General

San Antonio Water System this morning hosted its 10th annual Veterans Day breakfast for close to 200 past and present military personnel, taking time to pay tribute to our nation’s military men and women. SAWS hosts the ceremony each year to honor those who have served and currently serve in our country’s armed forces – including close to 300 current and former San Antonio Water System employees.

The event began with a traditional posting of the colors and flag raising ceremony by the U.S. National Cemetery Honor Guard at Ft. Sam Houston. The national anthem was performed by SAWS employees, and SAWS President/CEO Robert R. Puente spoke briefly to the “troops” before breakfast.

After breakfast, Major General (Ret.) Alfred A. Valenzuela, Commander, U.S. Army South, provided a keynote address.

Photos and other military memorabilia were on display in the SAWS cafeteria and Headquarters lobby. SAWS also collected donations for holiday care packages that will be assembled and sent to employees currently deployed overseas.
