SAWS Volunteers In Service
The purpose of the SAWS Community Activity Team is to be a positive
force within the community by soliciting a strong volunteer base throughout
the San Antonio Water System in order to help charitable organizations,
agencies and residents improve their quality of life in the community.
In
fulfillment of its mission, the Team:
- receives and searches for volunteer requests from local charitable
agencies;
- solicits and Coordinates volunteers for projects in support of these
agencies;
- identifies, designs and staffs its own projects for community service.
In
2003 approximately 25 percent of SAWS' 1,600+ employees volunteered in
46 charitable events and logged 2448 volunteer hours in support. From assisting
in painting the homes of those less fortunate to adopting the St. Peters, St. Josephs Orphanage, CAT volunteers
are always up to the task.
