SAWS Organization & Leadership

Information Systems

SAWS Information Systems teams seamlessly deliver quality, cost-effective applications and information technology services, promoting innovation to sustain growth and enable SAWS to better serve the community. Information Systems teams include:

Information Technology:

Data Center – Responsible for SAWS 24/7, including all aspects of systems administration, database administration, systems software and hardware, the storage area network and disaster recovery.

Network – Provides network and Internet services 24/7, including all aspects of network architecture and engineering, network infrastructure and operations for SAWS facilities.

IP Telephony – Manages SAWS telecommunication services 24/7 including IP telephony, teleconferencing, Call Center systems, interactive voice response systems, recording systems, digital radio systems and 911 systems.

Help Desk – Supports workstation and related peripheral devices across SAWS, including desktop support services as well as technology and software orders and requisitions.

Print Shop – Provides computer operations and bill printing services as well as copy services.

Applications - Supports all functional areas of SAWS and responsible for SAWS software from requirements and design through programming, configuration, implementation, 24/7 operations, upgrades and sustainability.

Program Management - Includes Information Systems program administration, project management, business process re-engineering, quality assurance, organizational change management to support SAWS' Innovation and Technology strategies.

VP - Chief Information Officer

Pulapaka joined SAWS in 2016 as Vice President/Chief Information Officer. He was most recently the Director of Enterprise Business Innovation and Analytics for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) in Washington, D.C., and has a successful track record of managing complex information technology programs across a number of sectors including: aviation, healthcare, telecommunications and water and wastewater.

He was the section head for nearly four years at the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, one of the largest water and wastewater utilities in the country serving 1.8 million residents. During his tenure, he supported compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations/standards, including consent decrees for sanitary sewer overflows.

After serving as a consultant for large IT services companies such as Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC) and SAP (BusinessObjects), Pulapaka was part of the IT executive management team at Johns Hopkins University and Health System, a 50,000-employee organization. He earned his Master of Science in engineering from Texas Tech University.
