Community Involvement
Public participation is a key component of SAWS operations and planning. Currently, five citizens groups made up of people with diverse views and interests are learning about water issues and advising SAWS board and staff.
Capital Improvements Advisory Committee
This committee advises and assists in the implementation of the impact fee process, which establishes the method for SAWS to impose impact fees. Impact fees recoup the cost of off-site capital improvements necessitated by new development.
Community Conservation Committee
Created by SAWS Board in 1997, this group generates conservation program ideas and helps build support for those programs throughout the community.
Community Experience Committee
The focus of the CEC is to maintain a constant dialogue with our neighbors by educating and seeking feedback from a diverse group of community-oriented individuals on a range of topics to improve the overall customer experience.
Dispute Resolution Committee
Established in 2024 as part of updates to the Drought Watering Rules, the Dispute Resolution Committee makes determinations about escalated water waste violations.
Rate Advisory Committee
This panel helps SAWS develop a rate structure that fairly balances operational needs with available financial resources.
SAWS Cares – Community Volunteers
The SAWS Community Activity Team positively impacts the San Antonio community through volunteerism and donation drives.
