2019 Open Enrollment

SAWS 2019 Open Enrollment is from Oct. 8-29, 2018. This section provides you detailed information, tools and resources to assist you in understanding and accessing the wide variety of benefits offered to SAWS employees.

Open Enrollment Deadline Oct. 29

Information contained in this section will answer questions regarding the available health, dental, vision and flexible spending account plans.

If you need further information regarding your plans, please contact the Human Resources Benefits Office at 210-233-2025 or attend one of the Open Enrollment meetings.

Changes for 2019

  • Copays for office visits and emergency rooms will increase.
  • Tier 1 Premium Providers — Save money using UHC recognized doctors who meet standards for quality and cost efficiency.
  • Out-of-Pocket Maximum changes for the PPO Economy Plan.
  • Smart90 Walgreens Exclusive — 90-day-supply prescriptions exclusively at Walgreens. Mail order also available.
  • Vision premiums increasing slightly.

Active Enrollment
There are no changes to the plan designs offered in 2019. SAWS will continue to offer a choice of two plans: the PPO Economy and EPO Plus, as well as dental and vision coverage provided by UnitedHealthcare. This year's enrollment will be an active enrollment.
Your current benefits will not roll over to 2019. If you do not enroll, you will automatically be enrolled in the PPO Economy plan, and you will not be able to make changes until the next Open Enrollment, unless you have a qualifying life event.

Premiums and Spousal Surcharge
The Spousal Surcharge will increase from $125 per month to $150 per month in 2019. If you're eligible to waive the surcharge, you must complete the Employed Spouse Premium Surcharge waiver form and submit it to Human Resources by Nov. 1.

Flexible Spending Account
If you want a health or dependent care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) next year, you MUST enroll for 2019 via Infor Lawson Employee Self-Service during Open Enrollment, even if you already have an account this year. If you'll have an unused health care FSA balance this year, you must enroll in an account for next year in order for the balance to roll over to 2019. The health care FSA limit for 2019 is $2,650, while the dependent care FSA limit is unchanged at $5,000.
