In a little more than two years, SAWS’ ambitious Central Water Integration Pipeline project went from drawing board to drinking water delivery.
The valves were opened July 3, marking completion of the conduit that connects SAWS’ new Vista Ridge water supply to central San Antonio. The effort included four miles of new water mains, two miles of tunnels and major upgrades at two pump stations.
With completion of the pipeline, the recently opened Agua Vista Station is expected to ramp up to full capacity, delivering more than 48 million gallons per day of Vista Ridge water by September.
