SAWS Providing Water Bill Relief to All Customers

San Antonio Water System today announced a bill relief program that will help all customers of the city-owned utility.

Effective immediately, SAWS will put in place a process to charge ALL customers the lower of two amounts on their next bill: either the total current charges for the current month, or last month’s current charges, whichever is lower.

“This extreme weather event has caused unimaginable hardships, and the last thing our neighbors need to worry about right now is their next water bill,” said SAWS president/CEO Robert R. Puente. “These are very trying times for many, and we want to help ease the burden any way we can.”

This one-time adjustment applies to both residential and commercial SAWS accounts. It will especially aid customers who may have an unusually high bill due to a freeze-related leak at their home or business.

SAWS will continue to work with customers on bill payment relief options moving forward. The utility already has discontinued water service shut-offs for non-payment since last spring as part of its coronavirus response effort.

Customers unable to pay the full balance on their SAWS bill can also set up a payment arrangement to keep their account in good standing while giving them more time to pay. For details visit saws.org/arrangement.

SAWS also offers 14 different payment assistance programs for customers who qualify. Apply today at saws.org/uplift.
